How to apply for an SRD grant online

in order to apply for the Sassa grant online you:

  • Click here to apply online
  • Enter your mobile number(make sure it’s your correct mobile number. failure to do so might cause problems later)
  • Click “send SMS

you will receive a one-time pin from SASSA.

  • Enter the one-time pin that SASSA has sent to your mobile number.

How To Update Contact Details For R350 Grant

  1.  Click here to visit the SRD website.
  2. Enter your ID number and Application ID.
  3. Select “Submit”.
  4. Fill in your email address, if available.
  5. Enter your new cellphone number.
  6. Click “Submit”.
  7. Choose the reason for changing the cellphone number.
  8. Fill in the OTP sent via SMS.
  9. Select “Submit”.

If you do not know your application ID, you will be able to find it on the SRD website. You will find your application ID under the application status tab. Follow these steps to locate your application ID:

  2. Fill in your ID number and the cellphone number used when you applied for the grant.

If you happen to be among those who qualify for the grant and you want to receive your Sassa payments through a bank account, Congrats. Here is how you can change your details.

How to add or change banking details:

  1. Visit the SRD website at srd.sassa.gov.za.
  2. Scroll down to ‘How do I change my bank details’
  3. Insert your ID number
  4. Click Submit.
  5. You will receive an SMS, with a unique link.
  6. Click on the link received in the SMS.
  7. Click on Capture Bank’s own Bank account.
  8. Capture Bank name.
  9. Capture Account type.
  10. Capture Account number.
  11. Click Submit.

Please Note: SRD R350 Grant applicants who chose to receive their R350 grant through a bank account should be aware that there is no set payment date since Sassa has promised them that they will receive their funds.

Receiving your grant through a bank account is encouraged but Sassa has also said that you can access or collect your grant payment using these options:

  • Checkers
  • U save
  • Shoprite
  • Pick ‘n Pay
  • Boxer

Applicants should also keep in mind that when collecting their grant payments from the above-mentioned retail locations, they should always have a registered cellphone number, ideally the one used during the application procedure.

Beneficiaries should not go to the grant payment collecting stations before receiving an SMS message from Sassa because their grant will not be available.

Beneficiaries are also urged not to collect their Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments at the South African Post Office (Sapo), as the SAPO is no longer an outlet for grant payment collection.
