What is Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC)

PwC is a network of firms that provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to a variety of industries. It has 23 offices in South Africa and operates in 34 African countries as well as 157 countries worldwide.

What is the PwC Bursary

PwC established a bursary scheme for students pursuing a Chartered Accountant (CA) degree at a South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) accredited university.

The PwC CA program is available to students at all stages of their education, including those in their matric year and those who have completed postgraduate studies. A student can begin the PwC CA learnership after receiving their certificate in accounting theory (CTA) or finishing their honors degree.

PwC Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

General specifications:

  • It is necessary to study pure mathematics rather than math literacy and English.
  • You must have a grade point average of at least 60% in all of your subjects.
  • English proficiency and strong communication skills are required.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities at school and/or university.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Determination and dedication
  • Outstanding leadership potential
  • Full-time students or those planning to study for a Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification at SAICA-accredited institutions

Additional matriculant requirements:

  • You must have a minimum of a Level 6 in Mathematics and English (1st or 2nd language),
  • a Matric exemption and university acceptance average of 70%.

University students must also meet the following requirements:

  • First-year students must pass all University courses with at least a 65% average.
  • Second-year students must pass all University courses with at least a 60% average.
  • Third and fourth-year students must consistently pass all courses and meet the university’s honors requirements.
  • Accounting: 60% or higher

Students must also have the following personal characteristics:

  • Excellent leadership abilities
  • Strong business, technical, and digital skills are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Capability to solve problems
  • Capable of forming relationships and working as part of a team
