What is myJHU Portal?

MyJHU is an online space where students can access various Johns Hopkins University resources such as general services, email, and more. It functions as a unified access point to a plethora of web applications provided by Johns Hopkins, as well as other important university information.

JHED is an abbreviation for Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory. It is an online, systematic contact information source for all Johns Hopkins University students.

It gives you access to a variety of university resources, including JHU SIS, myJHU Portal, JHU email, and much more.

How to Access the JHED System

You will need a JHED Login ID, JHED ID, or JHED LID to access these resources. It is the Username assigned to students in order for them to log into the JHED system.

New students will receive an email with all of their JHED ID information. Johns Hopkins University requires students to use their JHED IDs to gain access to resources and tools.

Students can use their JHED ID to access their email, check/print their class schedule, register for classes, check confirmations, view bills, and much more.

How to Get Your JHED ID?

The first step is to create your JHED account in order to obtain your JHED ID. To locate your JHED ID on any campus computer, follow the steps outlined below:

  • Go to https://my.jh.edu.
  • Enter your name in the First And Last format in the Search Box.
  • Select the Search option.
  • Locate and click on your Full Name.
  • It will display your JHED ID, Login ID, or LID to the right of the ‘Login ID’ label.
  • If you cannot find your name in the Directory, please contact the HITS Help Desk at 410-516-HELP (8080) for assistance.

What to do The First Time You Log Into JHED

After receiving your JHED ID, you can easily log into the JHED system by activating your JHED account.

To do that you must:

  • Go to https://my.jh.edu.
  • Click the ‘Login’ option in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Click the ‘First Time JHED Users Click Here’ link at the bottom.
  • You will be taken to a page where your identity will be verified in order to activate your JHED account.

How to create the JHED Account

Once you are on the page to activate your JHED account (by following the steps above). To access Hopkins resources and tools, you must first create a JHED account on this page. Take the following steps:

  • Enter your JHED ID.
  • Enter the characters shown in the image.
  • Continue by clicking the Continue button.
  • Create and confirm your password in accordance with the password policy.
  • Enter your birth date.
  • To verify your identity, enter the last five digits of your SSN (Government ID).
  • Select three security questions and answers. Continue by clicking the button.
  • Your JHED password will be set after confirmation. You can now use your JHED ID to log in.

Please Note: Before creating a password, carefully review the password requirements.

International students will receive an email to their personal email address containing their ID number, which will be used as their JHU Government ID. If you have not received an email from Johns Hopkins Government ID, please contact the IT Help Desk at (410) 516-8080.

Please Note: When you forget your password, the security question and answer will be used to create a new one. If you provide JHED with your email address, you can choose to receive your secret question via email. Then you can use your security answer to continue with the login process.

Do not reveal your JHED password to anyone. Remember that your JHED password expires after 180 days and that you will be prompted to change it when you log in.

How to Access the myJHU?

Follow the steps below to access your myJHU portal:

  • Go to https://my.jh.edu.
  • Click the ‘Login’ button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • To log in, enter your JHED ID.

How to Change Your JHED Information

  • Log in to your account at http://my.jh.edu to edit or update your JHED information.
  • Under the myProfile category, click on the myProfile icon on the left.
  • You will see your profile information on the right, including links to change your password, change your online visibility settings, and many other options.
  • In this section, edit your profile information and then click the ‘Save myProfile’ button at the bottom.

How to Change the JHED Password

If your JHED password has not yet expired but you need to change it for another reason, follow the steps below:

  • Visit https://my.jh.edu/ to sign in.
  • After logging in, navigate to the myProfile button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • In the Password Management box, click the Change Password button.
  • Enter your current password and create a new one.
  • Following that, you will be prompted to update the Security Questions and Answers.
  • After that, click the Change Password and Security Questions button.

These steps will change your JHED password successfully.
