What is FASSET

The Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) is a government entity created by the Skills Development Act (Act 97 of 1998) and the Skills Development Levies Act (Act no 9 of 1999).

It provides services to the finance and accounting sectors, including investment entities, stockbroking, and financial markets, financial development organizations, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, and tax services, business, and management consulting services, the South African Revenue Service, national and provincial treasuries, and other ventures that support financial processes such as debt collection.

What is the FASSET Bursary

FASSET provides bursaries to South African students pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Audit, or Actuarial studies at a public university or university of technology.

Alternatively, attend a public TVET college to pursue a qualification in finance and business.

Tuition, textbooks, housing, meal allowance, and data allowance are all covered by the bursary.

FASSET Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

Before applying, applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  • Matriculation Certificate (students currently in Matric will be able to apply from 15 January 2023, after results are released)
  • Studying or intending to study for a qualification in one of the fields listed.
  • studying, registered, or accepted to study at a recognized and accredited public tertiary institution (TVET College, University, or University of Technology)
  • Maximum annual gross combined household income of R600 000 (income before deductions)
  • Currently unemployed

How to Apply for the FASSET Bursary 2023-2024

Online applications must be submitted at FASSET Bursary Application 2023. Please include clear copies of the following supporting documentation with your application:

  • A certified copy of your identification document
  • Proof of enrollment and acceptance at an accredited tertiary institution (on institutions letterhead)
  • Certified copies of your parents’ or guardians’ identification documents
  • Parents or legal guardians’ evidence of household income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of pension or grant if applicable)
  • A certified copy of your completed qualification certificates, if applicable
  • Evidence of residency
